Chairmen of the Friends of the VFW 614 Registered Society

1st Chairman: Prof. Gert Reich

Born in 1947, he completed training as a teacher in Oldenburg and taught in Bremen starting from 1971. There he observed the quiet VFW 614, which often flew over the school during test flights. In 1975 Gert Reich went to the University of Oldenburg (new technologies), attained a doctorate, became university lecturer and professor. At present he trains teachers in the subject technology. In the context of a large European Union project "enterprise museum" Gert Reich met with the VFW 614 G18. With students, coworkers and support by the ASL (Air Service Lemwerder) he dismantled the former German Airforce airplane in Sweden and led its re-assembly as a museum airplane in the Aeronauticum Nordholz (Cuxhaven) afterwards.

2nd Chairman: Bernd Ratsch

Born in 1946, he studied Industry Design, came to Bremen in 1972 and was active up to the year 1975 at the company Nordmende as a designer. Afterwards he changed to the company VFW Fokker and jointly drew responsible for the newly founded design team for the interior and exterior of the VFW 614 there. After the end of the VFW 614 programme he was active with MBB Bremen for the customized design of the Airbus. In 1984 he left the enterprise and is self-employed since then.

Treasurer: Rolf Peters

Born in 1950, he made in internship in aircraft construction with VFW Fokker in Bremen from 1969 to 1970. After attendance of the engineering school (Staatl. gepr. Techniker) he was employed by VFW-Fokker in 1974, first as a research and development technician at the Lemwerder factory. From 1977 Rolf Peters changed to the VFW 614 programme management (Udo Dräger, Hans Kathen). There he was an engineer for development, projects and customer's requests in the VFW 614 programme. After the end of the programme (serial production) he changed to the department selling special technology until 1981. Since 1982 Rolf Peter is active in the range robot technologies.

Secretary: Jan Schneidereit

Born in 1945, he completed his apprenticeship as an engine fitter, was non-career soldier at the Federal Navy and qualified as a mechanical engineering technician afterwards. Since 1974 he worked at VFW-Fokker, today at Airbus Germany in Bremen as a technical designer. In the VFW 614 programme he was active as responsible technical designer within the range cabin and cockpit equipment as well as safety equipment. In addition he cared for the customer German Airforce who operated the airplanes VFW 614 G14 / G18 / G19. He worked within the projects research aircraft "ATTAS" and test platform "ATD" (EFCS) as well. There here was responsible for the areas equipment, safety devices, cabin, cockpit and structure. His current focal tasks are with the development and construction of future-oriented projects.
